From this Data I can see that the most popular films fall under the categories of comedy, fantasy, horror and thriller. This is valid information for me because now know what style of film I need to aim for when creating my own film opening if I want to appeal to my target market (ages 16-19 and both boys and girls because these are the people who answered my questionnaires). So, throughout my research I will analyse a mixture of genres to gain an understanding of codes, conventions, mise-en- scene, plots and narrative so that I can apply this to my open film opening. It may also give me some ideas for enigma codes to be introduced in my opening sequence in order to entice and intrigue my audience.
We can also see that from this data not many people who were involved in this questionnaire were terribly interested in using film for any form of escapism or only did this sometimes. The common justification for such a negative answer for this questions was simply because people were not stressed therefore had no reason to feel as though they needed to escape. This means that when it comes to me creating my own film opening I need to focus more on entertaining my audience with humour for the comedy genre, fear and suspense for the thriller and horror genre and interest for the fantasy element.
For the question on personal relationships we can see that it more or less got a positive answer. The overall reason for this was because people enjoyed speaking to their friends about the films they enjoy so they can bond and possibly catch up. It is also because watching films with others can add to the viewing experience because a sudden emotion in the film that everyone feels means everyone is comfortable with feeling those emotions instead of hiding them. This evidence benefits me due to the fact that when it comes to me creating y own film opening, I should try and include memorable moments that spark a lot of emotion to add to the viewing experience alone and with friends' as well as make it something that could be talked about in conversation. If my film opening were to be made into a full film and then dispatched to the public, and people are talking about my film opening, it means it can gain popularity therefore more money, and that is the main aim for film producers.
For the next question in the questionnaire based around personal identity, we can see that people really didn't believe that film influenced their decisions nor gave them synthetic personality. This may be because people are in denial about just how much film influences them or maybe films just simply don't affect them very much. This the means I could go one of two ways when it comes to creating my own film opening - either come up with a way to really try and create personal identity in a positive way so they can really relate to the film without actually needing their true identity to play much of a role, because we will be creating a synthetic personality. However, due to evidence I had found about escapism, people aren't too bothered about being fully immersed in the film or relating a lot to it, so a better option might be to go all out and very fictional with it so that it is more fun and entertain rather than serous and trying to relate to the audience on a real life level.
Lastly, we can see that for surveillance, most of the people involved in the questionnaire didn't think that they used film as a way to seek advice, despite most films having some moral to their story. People mainly said this because they just wanted to see film as a form of entertainment, not as something that could teach you a lesson. This also means that when I come to making my own film opening I don't need to put too much thought or even effort into making it relatable to the public by including advice or morals, it needs to be more on the fun and entertainment side.
